![]() Equally I am not sure how much of a loading mask some of the cutscenes are, probably not the full 6 minutes but the some of the sounds coming from my GC back when were likely not just those of some video being streamed. Likewise I do not believe the cutscenes caused any issue for mod chip users (no audiofix type things) nor for emulation, be it in the likes of dolphin or things like Nintendon't on the wii u and dios mios on the Wii, however don't quote me on the DIOS mios stuff (I had a quick poke through the source but nothing jumped out at me, I could have missed something though). A lot, possibly even most, of mario hacking, especially for more modern consoles, happens in dedicated forums that I do not frequent (or sometimes even know about) so I might have missed a newer project. There were once some people doing a boss rush equivalent for the pack less levels but I do not think they got as far as fiddling with cutscenes (they went in more for the fiddling with the plaza shortcuts/levels themselves if I recall their discussion). ![]() I doubt you will find existing info on cutscenes at this level - most people playing in sunshine tend to be more concerned with level hacks, porting the game to other mario engines (or porting other mario games to sunshine's engine) and stuff like that. It has been a while since I played sunshine from the start but that would be the trial sequence if memory serves, no? If not direct help in poring through code, links to existing resources/knowledge would be appreciated greatly. I'd like to learn more about how the game handles loading cutscenes and how the current known skips work on a more fundamental level. You can't exit area on Airstrip and collecting a shine restores your health, making these methods unusable to skip the longest cutscene in the game. However, the cutscene I'd like to skip differs from the others in that it is triggered by collecting a shine in the Airstrip. Some skips have been found for cutscenes later in the game, but those involve either dying on a precise frame or exiting the area while entering the loading zone for the cutscene. ![]() The very beginning of SMS is plagued with about 6 minutes' worth of cutscenes which at this point in time are unskippable from a fresh savestate. I'm not looking to make a ROMhack or custom level the main reason I'm looking for help is to help the SMS speedrunning community. I would like to know how to create/get/read an Assembly for Super Mario Sunshine.
